Smart, Strategic Growth
As Rutherford County continues to grow, Craig Harris will lead with a responsible and strategic plan for development. He believes growth should pay for more, not fall on the backs of taxpayers. As Mayor, Craig will continue his work to ensure development contributes more toward the cost of new infrastructure, schools, and public services, while protecting the character of our communities and preventing future overdevelopment from overwhelming roads, schools, and first responders.
Investing in Public Safety
Craig has a proven record of supporting our law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency personnel. As Mayor, he will build on that success, investing in recruitment, retention, and equipment to ensure Rutherford County remains a safe place to live and raise a family. He understands that strong public safety starts with backing those who protect us, and he will ensure they have the support and resources they need.

Conservative, Fiscally Responsible Leadership
Craig believes in keeping government lean and taxes low. He has delivered balanced budgets, generated millions in alternative revenues to property taxes, and helped secure a AAA bond rating for the county. As Commissioner, he supported hiring an internal auditor to improve government efficiency and root out waste. As Mayor, he will continue to protect taxpayers by rejecting wasteful spending, keeping property taxes low, and demanding accountability in every department of county government.
Infrastructure Solutions
Craig Harris understands that traffic and infrastructure are top concerns for Rutherford County families. While many of the major roadways in our county are state-managed, Craig has built strong working relationships with state legislators and will continue leveraging those partnerships to deliver long-overdue improvements in traffic flow and road capacity. As Mayor, he will push for faster timelines, smarter planning, and open communication on all transportation projects. He has also delivered increased funding to the Rutherford County Highway Department to ensure they have the resources to maintain county roads.
Craig knows Rutherford County needs forward-thinking, long-term solid waste solutions. He supports reducing our reliance on landfills by exploring regional partnerships and fighting for state and federal grants for recycling and diversion programs. He’ll lead with common sense and put the entire county’s voice at the center of every decision.
